Challenge
MATIS, a complex remote pipeline tie-in system owned by Stolt Offshore Ltd (now Subsea 7), required an improved means to train operators.
Solution
Fugro GRL create a complete training simulator in just 3 months which enabled the full range of real tasks (such as bolt tensioning) to be performed in an 'as real' environment.
Business Benefit
Operators trained on the FGRL simulator outperformed those trained on hardware only, reducing the average connection time from 25 hours to under 7 hours and reducing the level of experience required to perform these tasks.
