2010-Present: Vessel Simulator Integration: Haugesund Simulator Centre

Challenge

To provide seamless handover of control from vessel simulator to ROV simulator during launch and recovery operations. To enable real-time communications for monitoring ROV/TMS position in vessel simulator and monitoring of vessel and crane tip position and orientation, umbilical payout length in ROV simulator.

Solution

Fugro GRL implemented a modified version of DeepWorks ROV to enable control handover and ongoing messaging protocols for transferring required information between the two simulators.  Integrates with Argos Remote Console for pilot control of latches, tether, sonar, lights, cameras, etc and utimately with a remote KystDesign Control Chair situated at DeepOcean offices.

Business Benefits

Enables seamless control handover during launch and recovery through spash zone with live position updates of Vessel/ROV in both simulators. Enables integrated training of ROV pilots with Crane and Deck Handling teams using state-of-the art full immersion simulators.
